Host Marto Napoli's 2024 collection will be extended until January

After having raised an amount close to what was collected in 2019, host Marto Napoli continues his donation collection until January in order to beat this record.

“We are going to beat this old record by January,” says Marto Napoli, convinced that he will be able to raise more than $277,000 in food and toys, a record that was last reached in 2019.

Currently, the total amount raised is $266,124.50. Mr. Napoli has no doubt that it will be possible to beat the record by January 8, when he returns from vacation. “The collection was crazy this year. Huge,” he says.

The name of his fundraiser, “Marto and his poor people”, caused controversy ahead of the event. A letter had been sent and posted on social media asking that he change it to a name with words that “would prove less hurtful”.

However, the collection of donations still took place and “the unifying movement has become even stronger”, according to the host’s words.

A record for Rivière-du-Loup

Marto et ses ti-pauvres takes place both in Quebec and in Rivière-du-Loup, in the region where the host comes from, a native of Saint-Alexandre-de-Kamouraska.

This year, $41,000 of the total amount comes from Rivière-du-Loup, a record for the region.
