Hygiene: The rain shower, an ordeal for women

Small mirrors, little storage space, all-in-one care products for body, face and hair… Some hotel rooms raise the question: were they designed for men, without thinking about the needs of women? THE concept has been making waves on social media for some time now. The same goes for the shower. Usually installed in high-end rooms, the rain shower seems to pose more problems for women. On TikTok, Abbey.freeze explains why.

“Who the hell decided rain showers were the ultimate in design? I really have a problem with this person who is against and clearly hates women,” Abbey said on the social network. She cites two reasons why she disapproves of this shower choice.

For one thing, she says she doesn't wash her hair every time she takes a shower. “And I think there aren’t many women who do it,” she adds. On this, she shows the postures she is forced to adopt under the rain shower to avoid getting her hair wet.

On the other hand, “I'd like to not feel like I'm drowning every time I shower,” she says. “What does that mean? Could this be a design designed for men?” asks the young woman who also complains about the fact that these showers are considered a strong point in any self-respecting Airbnb.

You might think that this torrent of anger is exaggerated for a simple shower. Except Abbey's video has already garnered 3.5 million views. The approximately 5,700 comments collected do not fail to add other problematic points.

“How am I supposed to let my conditioner work while I wash my body?”, “Not to mention how difficult it is to rinse the soap off my private parts, without having to assume yoga positions” or again “The water pressure is way too low to wash my hair. There’s still shampoo left on my head,” we can read in the comments.
