From Migros to Nestlé via PrimeEnergy Cleantech or Vetropack, Time returns for two weeks to the Swiss companies that marked 2024, companies whose difficulties reflect current economic issues and challenges.
We were waiting for Hotelplan, it would have been Mibelle. Migros ends the year 2024 by announcing a sale on December 23. One more. French cosmetics giant L'Oréal will acquire Gowoonsesang Cosmetics for an undisclosed amount. This South Korean subsidiary of the Mibelle group belongs to the Swiss retail leader. As its name suggests, it is active in beauty products.
The operation is added to a series of sales distilled over the months since the orange giant embarked, at the beginning of February, on the largest restructuring in its history. The cooperative thus hopes to regain market share in the face of growing competition, mainly from hard discounters German companies Aldi and Lidl, who perfectly negotiated their establishment in Switzerland. Their image as price breakers – not always accurate – benefits them all the more as the return of inflation has made many Swiss people very careful about their spending.
