This is a new disappointment for the company Malaysia Arlines. Just 2 days after the inaugural flight of its new Airbus A330neo, the plane was grounded due to repeated technical failures.

A little theft and then gone. Malaysian Airlines' new Airbus A330neo has been grounded since its first flight on December 19 between Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne. This is what the Malaysian newspaper, the New Straits Times, reveals.

“The problem is with the factory and it affects the reputation and brand of Malaysia Airlines”the company's general director Izham Ismail told the newspaper this Sunday. “Safety is essential. I won't take chances on safety.”

In 2022, the company has agreed to acquire 20 Airbus A330neo aircraft to modernize its wide-body fleet. The A330neo, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, is considered more fuel efficient.

“We want Airbus and Rolls-Royce to investigate the root of the problem”Izham Ismail told the local press, without making further comments. However, it seems that the Rolls Royce engine is the cause of these failures.

Rolls-Royce told the newspaper that it had found a defective component, while Airbus said it was ready to help Malaysia Airlines. Izham Ismail indicated that the technical faults of the new plane were not “not acceptable”.

The Malaysian airline has suffered several setbacks this year, with a reduction in the number of routes and labor issues. This damage to the A330neo is a new setback for Malaysia Airlines.
