Aspect du packaging : for Lidl and Aldi, we were entitled to special packaging for the end-of-year holidays, with a product well highlighted on a black background. It was very successful. For Delhaize, Colruyt (except the yellow-orange background) and the big brand – Mora –, no festive packaging, but a well-promoted product all the same. At Intermarché, it was really special and made people not want to buy the package. It was a little better, but too basic at Carrefour.
Product appearance: At Colruyt, we found the nose very fine and well balanced, and the texture of the cheese was perfect, neither too runny nor too firm. The same goes for Delhaize. For Carrefour, we found quite similar qualities. For Intermarché, the croquette was beautiful intact, but the cheese was too compact. At Aldi, we were on mini-kibbles with three different flavors. For an aperitif, it's original and well presented. For Lidl and the big brand, it especially lacked smell.
Nutritional value: Nutri-Score E for Lidl and Aldi, and D for the others.
The big test of brands in party mode: for shrimp croquettes, there are big differences in level (COMPARATIVE)
Label readability: it was quite disappointing given the size of the package at Carrefour, the same for Lidl and Aldi. For Colruyt it was better and written large enough. The same goes for Delhaize. For the big brand, it was perfect, as for the shrimp croquettes. For Intermarché, the choice of font color – white – on a pale yellow background did not make reading easy at all.
Taste : we start with Colruyt. As with the shrimp croquettes, we appreciated the finesse of the product, with a good cheese taste, but not too pronounced or cloying either. For Carrefour, it was also very good, but the taste of the cheese was a little less fine, and the whole thing was saltier. At Intermarché, it was also OK, but it lacked a little taste overall. On the Aldi side, the three flavors were really lacking in taste. Same remark for Lidl, by the way. A little too simple to amaze the taste buds. For Mora, on the other hand, it wasn't great and quite disgusting. Finally, Delhaize finished the test in style, and almost put itself on the same level as Colruyt.
The big test of brands in party mode: the best red wine tested costs just over €7! (COMPARATIVE)
Value for money: here are the prices in order for a 400 g portion: Colruyt (€2.59), Intermarché (€2.71), Delhaize (€3.98), Carrefour (€4.38), Aldi (5, €49), Lidl (€5.79) and Mora (€9.5).
