Good news for those who receive a pension or for those who retired during the year in Luxembourg: the amount of pensions will once again be increased on January 1, 2025.
While on January 1, 2024, pensions had experienced a revaluation of 1.1% compared to 2023, the increase is expected to be higher for the coming year. According to a press release from the Ministry of Health and Social Security, this will reach 1.6%.
Why pensions will increase again
The Ministry of Health and Social Security explains what will cause this new increase. “In accordance with the provisions of article 225bis of the Social Security Code relating to pension insurance, the government examines every year, on the basis of an analysis of the evolution of the average level of contributory salaries carried out by the Inspectorate General Social Security (IGSS), if it is necessary to readjust current pensions.”
Therefore, “according to IGSS calculations, the revaluation factor referred to in article 225 of the Social Security Code amounts to 1.595 for the year 2023, which results in an increase in pensions of 1. 6% on January 1, 2025.
