Europe opens in the red before PMIs – 16/12/2024 at 09:21

The main European stock markets fell at the opening on Monday before the publication of the PMI indicators during the morning.

In , the CAC 40 fell by 0.34% to 7,383.11 points around 08:14 GMT. The in Frankfurt lost 0.21%, while the FTSE in London nibbled 0.02%.

The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 index lost 0.01%, the EuroStoxx 50 fell 0.14% and the Stoxx 600 declined 0.02%.

The activity indicators expected on Monday should confirm the weakness of activity in the euro zone, marked by a deep contraction in the industrial sector and increasingly degraded prospects for the services sector.

European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde is due to speak from 08:15 GMT.

The Moody's agency also lowered 's rating on Saturday to a level comparable to that of the two other major rating agencies, Fitch and S&P Global.

The rate gap between France and Germany rebounds slightly but remains contained, at 80 basis points.

The groups resulting from the split of Vivendi's activities make their stock market debut on Monday. Havas takes 11.2% at 2 euros and Louis Hachette 25%, at 1.4 euros.
