Thierry, originally from Le Havre, had difficulty realizing when Fnac called him at the end of November. “I was traveling with my partner and when I returned to France, I saw lots of missed calls on my phone. When I finally got Delphine Perret [chargée de l’engagement au sein de l’enseigne, NDLR] to tell me that I had won, I said to myself 'wow'! » says the 56-year-old from Le Havre.

And there is something to be said for it. Like 40,000 other people in France, he took part in the competition organized by the brand to celebrate his 70th birthday and came first. The first prize? 70 seconds to take as many products as they want from a point of sale of the brand, with a maximum limit of 7 000 euros. He (therefore) did not deprive himself.

A home workout

Wednesday December 11, 2024, the Fnac store located on the top floor of the Coty center, shows closed doors. However, inside, everyone is busy setting up the game. Thierry and his partner, smiles on their faces, await the start which will be given by a bailiff.

“We trained at home to be able to select everything. By doing it at home, we did everything in less than a minute,” he says impatiently. Because, yes, time is running out.

Equipped with a GoPro camera, he must touch the lots he wants “with only one possible reference at a time,” says Delphine Perret. “Then we analyze the camera images to see if the amount is reached. Then, if we have the products in stock, he leaves with them; otherwise, we order them. »

Pleasure of giving (and joy of receiving)

Here we go. Le Havre knows the aisles of the store like the back of his hand, of which he is a loyal customer, and taps on very specific objects. A turntable, a telephone, a hairdryer, without forgetting the vinyls,… He walks with confidence, thinking of not forgetting anything.

I was faster than expected! Actually, I had time.

A big music fan, he naturally treated himself to a classic Beatles vinyl, but the priority for him was to please his children. “I asked them before what they wanted. A computer for one of my daughters, a telephone for the other… Above all, it's the pleasure of giving them. »
