Many registered spectators have not received the precious sesame to access the Champs-Élysées this Saturday. Contradictory communications make them fear that they will not be able to come and admire the parade.
“SORRY I was one of the first to sign up and never received a QR code, it’s totally unfair”, “I received the 3 QR codes from my companions but not mine”, “We are all waiting for confirmations which are taking a long time to come”, “Still haven’t got my tickets”… On social networks, testimonies from Olympic fans, registered to attend the “Parade of Champions” this Saturday in Paris, are pouring in. Clearly, the process of sending QR codes for the big parade of French athletes on the Champs-Élysées has had some hiccups.
Adding to the confusion, conflicting communications from Paris 2024 and the Paris police prefecture have provoked worried reactions from spectators, with some even wondering whether they will be able to access the site. “To access it, you must have an access ticket and an identity document (checks at access points)”wrote on X the police headquarters. “Only people who have received a registration confirmation will be able to access the site”seemed to confirm Paris 2024 on the same social network.

QR Code or confirmation email
However, this is not the information that registered people received in their email boxes. “To access the site this afternoon, you must have your QR code and an ID. If you have not received your QR code, you can show up with your nominative pre-registration email and an ID.”said the parade’s organizing team.
Contacted to sort out this imbroglio, Paris 2024 refers to the response sent to panicked Internet users on X, confirming that the information received by email is correct. So, to be perfectly clear, to access the parade area, spectators are invited to bring their QR code and an ID. In the absence of a QR Code, the nominative confirmation email that proves that the pre-registration is validated will suffice, with an ID. Information that Paris 2024 reshared in a dedicated post on X a little after 2:30 p.m., less than 1.5 hours before the parade.
