6 million APL beneficiaries in France, who are really affected by this new feature?
In France, 5.8 million households benefit from personalized housing assistance monthly (or APL).
This new feature will particularly concern “ tenants about to move out.
CAF: these new documents have been essential since mid-November to receive personalized housing assistance (APL)
They will now have to provide new supporting documents to continue to claim this aid granted by Caf, specifies a ministerial decree published on November 16.
The list of supporting documents required to request or renew the APL has changed since mid-November. This new text replaces thedecree of August 22, 1986hitherto in force.
The latter would be “become obsolete due to the automatic recovery, by the Caf, of certain information already declared by applicants or beneficiaries to other administrations”underlines the decree.
Among the required documents are:
- A statement of the people usually residing in your household. The resources taken into consideration for the calculation of the APL are those received by the applicant, their spouse as well as other people usually living with them;
- A double-sided photocopy of your proof of identity (identity card or passport);
- The amount of your assets if this is greater than 30,000 euros;
- A certificate from your lessor proving your use (for residential use), the surface area, the decency of the property, based in particular on the energy performance diagnosis (DPE), with the amount of the rent;
- A bank identity statement (RIB).

Revaluation of personalized housing assistance since October 1, 2024
This modification comes a few weeks after the increase in the amount of housing assistance, including the APL, the main one of all.
As of October 1, the latter were subject to an increase of around 3.26%, based on the evolution of the rent reference index.
L’personalized housing assistance which amounts to 175 euros has since increased to 180.70 euros.
If the finance bill for 2025 is definitively adopted, beneficiaries could see their APL increase by an additional 5 euros next year.
