With the motion of censure announced by the oppositions on Monday against the Social Security budget, which has every chance of being adopted on Wednesday or Thursday, “it is the country that we are putting in danger”, worried Tuesday the Minister of the Economy Antoine Armand.
“We have done everything possible so that the political forces in Parliament can either support us or not censor this budget. Because it is not the budget that we are censoring, it is not the government that we are censoring behind “It's not the country that we're putting in danger, it's the country that we're damaging,” Mr. Armand said during an interview on France 2.
“I say it without dramatizing, but I am not here to be relativist either. Because tomorrow, if interest rates increase, if the French are affected in their savings, if income tax increases ( …), who will be responsible? Who will pay the consequences? The French first,” continued the minister.
On Monday, Prime Minister Michel Barnier unsurprisingly took responsibility for his government on the Social Security financing bill (PLFSS), ensuring that he had been “at the end of the dialogue” with political groups, including the National Rally .
The gestures announced by Michel Barnier to meet the demands of the flame party – in particular on the reimbursement of medicines – will not, however, have been enough, and the RN has announced its intention to vote for censure, with left-wing parliamentarians.
“All sectors will lose” in the event of a vote of censorship, Mr. Armand also said, stressing that “there are no French people who win, there is no company who wins”.
“The country is facing a turning point,” he said.
