Fifteen people were laid off in the facilities on King Street West in Sherbrooke, 18 in those on rue de la Montagne in Valcourt and 29 in those on Cartier Street, also in Valcourt. In a written communication, Mélanie Montplaisir, head of global public relations at BRP, confirms the departure of 62 professionals and executives.
Ms. Montplaisir, however, declined our interview request.
In an email, she specifies that “the 2025 financial year had its share of challenges and we adapted to the difficult context throughout the year in order to ensure the continued success of the company. Even today, the economic situation continues to put pressure on consumer demand, and we expect this situation to persist until the end of the calendar year 2025.
She adds that sound expense management leads to workforce reduction throughout BRP. “These adjustments are not significant as a proportion of BRP’s workforce globally.”
Finally, she mentions that the company wants to bounce back when the context is more favorable. “Over the years, we have navigated through several industry cycles, proving our resilience and strength. We are confident that we are making the right decisions to enable the company to bounce back when the economic environment improves, and ensure its long-term growth.”
