The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has indicated that field cucumbers are being recalled due to possible contamination with “Salmonella” bacteria.
“The affected product is the subject of a recall from the market because this product could be contaminated by the bacteria ”Salmonella”,” the CFIA said in a press release on Monday.
The products affected by the recall are SunFed brand and distributed in bulk in cardboard containers or in batches.
The recall affects Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan, but the products in question may have been distributed in other provinces.
“Products subject to recall should be thrown away or returned to the place where they were purchased,” recommended the federal agency.
Food contaminated with “Salmonella” bacteria does not necessarily show visible spoilage or a suspicious odor, but can still make you sick.
The recalled cucumbers were sold from November 12 to 29 in varying sizes, according to the CFIA, which is currently conducting a food safety investigation.
