New Black Monday, this December 2, for travelers in Occitania. The railway workers are mobilizing again, to stand against the TER 2025 plan. After a day of strike, led by the four SNCF unions on November 25, the company's management has not reversed its positions .
As a result, traffic will be disrupted, delays and cancellations are to be expected because around 60% of TER drivers should be on strike. “It might even be a little more.”report Sébastien Aïssou, member of the CGT Cheminots in Toulouse. “The management does not want to negotiate at the moment, and is trying to undermine our morale,” he adds.
The SNCF plans a 24% increase in rail service with only 11% additional staff, by 2032. Figures that are questioned by railway workers, who are demanding “additional means”insists Sébastien Aïssou. “We are asked to do more service but we are not given the opportunity, he declares. SNCF thinks like a private company while we want to provide public service.”
The railway workers are demanding more days of service so that shifts can be carried out, and that the workload is thus reduced. From December 11,The unions are calling for an unlimited national strike, renewable for 24-hour periods. They wish to obtain answers to their demands, on the opening to competition of regional lines as well as on the dismantling of Fret SNCF. “The public rail service is in about to explode”is sorry Sébastien Aïssou.
For the moment, management has not given details on the number of journeys disrupted by the social movement on Monday.
