On the Point website, they denounce “the continued forced march of installation of marine or land wind turbines, or solar panels which in no way serve the decarbonization of our country, since, thanks to nuclear power and hydraulic, electricity is abundant and already 95% decarbonized. »
“An illusion”
According to them, the complementarity between nuclear power and renewable energies, “impossible to store on a large scale”, is “an illusion”. They assure that EDF is today forced to “slow down its nuclear production to allow surplus wind and solar electricity to flow, while bearing all the fixed costs of its nuclear power plants”.
The authors of the article also point out “the commitments of several hundred billion euros that price guarantees and subsidies for these intermittent energies have cost, cost and will cost the national community, for the sole benefit of private producers and their suppliers”.
Finally, they affirm that, like Germany, there is “a technical necessity to build, as the share of intermittent energies increases, new fossil electricity plants, in order to compensate for the sudden and unpredictable drops in production in the event of absence of wind or sun”.
