Michel Barnier “has until Monday” next year to modify certain measures present in the 2025 finance bill, warned Marine Le Pen, who still threatens to censor the government. And you, do you think that the executive should give in to this ultimatum?
The National Rally is demanding even more from the government. Prime Minister Michel Barnier nevertheless announced to Le Figaro that it would not increase “taxes on electricity in the 2025 finance bill“, Thursday November 28. And even announced that he wanted to reduce the basket of care covered under State Medical Aid for undocumented foreigners. Concessions made to Marine Le Pen's party which, however, do not seem not sufficient, according to the words of the latter.
Thursday evening, the leader of the RN deputies thus launched an ultimatum to the government and therefore to its leader: “There are still difficulties. There (Michel Barnier) until Monday (next)“. The RN still has two “red lines” expressed to our colleagues from Le Monde: the minimum revaluation of retirement pensions and the reduction in reimbursement for medicines, which appear in the 2025 Budget bill.
“The ultimatum I hear today is that of all the workers, engineers, farmers, who tell me: ‘Hold on, we need stability, visibility, to be able to invest’”replied Michel Barnier, Friday November 29, traveling to Limoges (Haute-Vienne). “That is the ultimatum that I hear, that I understand, the ultimatum of a France which must work and preserve its jobs”insisted the head of government. He nevertheless claimed to be in the “respect and dialogue” with “the political forces of Parliament”. “This is what I wanted to express when I received Marine Le Pen on Monday”he assured.
“Concessions to help the French”
The Prime Minister also refuses to say that he is making “concessions” to the RN, which continues to threaten the government to censor its 2025 finance bill. “I did not make concessions, I listened to Parliament. If we talk about concessions, they are concessions to help the French”replied Michel Barnier. Tuesday, on the set of TF1, the latter warned of the risks of possible censorship from his government, predicting a “storm and serious turbulence on the financial markets”.
