Call for a strike by all representative unions on December 5 for wages

An inter-union called for a wage strike on Thursday, December 5 in “all companies in the electricity and gas sector,” we learned from union sources on Friday. This call comes as salary negotiations have started in companies and are “not at the level” of the demands of the inter-union (CGT/CFE-CGC/CFDT/FO), indicated a union source.

In the electricity and gas industries sector, general increases are decided at branch level and apply to all companies, which then negotiate a range of individual increases, the addition of the two giving the overall increase. employees.

Negotiations not at the level

“In general increase, we are at + 0.8% […]. In companies, all four trade union organizations representing the sector have requested 2.3% in individual measures, declared to AFP Laurent Koessler, in charge of social dialogue at CFE-Energies, the second largest organization in the sector, which has just under 140,000 employees.

However, “business negotiations have started and we are not at this level,” he added. “Following the opening session of the negotiation on the 2025 salary measures, the first proposal from EDF management is a low rate of 1.5%”, indicated the inter-union in a leaflet.

Same day as the civil service

She asks management to “return to negotiations by proposing much more to meet the 2.3% claimed for individual measures”. For the same reasons, the inter-union is calling for a strike “at EDF, at Enedis and at all companies in the electricity and gas sector, so there is not a single company that escapes the strike notice”, said added Laurent Koessler, information confirmed by the CGT of EDF and the CGT of GRDF.

The date of December 5 corresponds to a planned meeting of the energy sector body to negotiate other subjects, indicated Laurent Koessler. This day happens to be “the same day” as the strike day in the public service, he stressed, with demands on purchasing power “almost identical”.

A movement set to harden?

The call for strike officially begins the day before at 9:00 p.m., for night shifts, as traditionally in the energy sector. This day of strike should not have too visible consequences for the public, predicted Laurent Koessler, and should above all result in a loss of earnings for companies.

But, he warns, “it is a function of the result”, therefore of the mobilization, “and the reactions of employers”, that the movement, which can be renewed, will eventually be able to harden. “The inter-union will meet on the evening of the 5th to decide what action to take,” he concluded.
