This Thursday, a chase began between a cantonal police patrol and a 53-year-old motorist from Friborg. The latter did not want to submit to an inspection in the village of Lentigny. On the contrary, he tried to outrun the police, despite the blue lights being activated.
On his journey, the driver went to the area around Chénens station, where his reckless driving endangered the surrounding pedestrians. After a few minutes, he finally decided to stop his vehicle on a secondary road. But the run didn’t stop there. The maneuver was a decoy. The moment the police wanted to arrest him, the fugitive backed up against their vehicle three times, before heading off again in the direction of Romont.
He walks away, without escaping
His excessive speed and reckless overtaking allowed him to gain distance, while endangering other road users. But despite his efforts, he was unable to completely outrun his pursuers. He stopped in front of a public building in which he took refuge, leaving his vehicle. The agents were finally able to arrest him, not without difficulty. The fugitive struggled. According to the cantonal police, there were no injuries.
His driving license was immediately seized and various checks are underway to determine his physical condition. He will be reported to the competent authority. People who were put in danger by the driver are asked to contact the authorities by telephone at 026 347 01 17.
