Health Canada on Thursday issued a recall of Sunright Multi-Gift brand teddy bears due to a choking hazard.
The recall involves 180 products sold across Canada between January and November 2024. The bears in question have black fur, a red and white striped hat and a red sweater with an image of a maple leaf as well as the word Vancouver or Canada.
The toys affected by the recall were manufactured in China and have item codes PSL163B and PSL363B.
After sampling and evaluation, Health Canada found that the eyes of the stuffed animals could detach from the toy and therefore risk being swallowed by children. The federal organization therefore determined that these bears did not comply with the Toy Regulations contained in the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.
Fortunately, no incidents have been reported related to these toys, as of November 20.
If you are in possession of one of these teddy bears, Health Canada recommends that you immediately stop using the product and return it to the store where you purchased it.
