Big slap for IPTV, a big network dismantled by the European police

Europol, in collaboration with Italian police and other European authorities, has dismantled an illegal IPTV network with more than 22 million users around the world. This network allowed illegal access to premium content such as that of Sky, DAZN, Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+, generating 250 million euros per month, i.e. a loss estimated at more than 10 billion euros for those with right.

Many channels and servers seized

The operation led to the seizure of 2,500 illegal channels and servers, as well as the confiscation of cryptocurrencies worth 1.65 million euros. Eleven arrest warrants were issued, including three targeting directors in England and the Netherlands. The alleged offenses include illegal distribution of audiovisual content, unauthorized access to servers, computer fraud and money laundering.

This dismantling comes as illegal IPTV continues to flourish, particularly in , where DAZN, the sole holder of Ligue 1 rights, remains a frequent target. Fans, unhappy with high prices and recent decisions by the LFP regarding television rights, often turn to these illicit services. Despite this success, the fight against this type of piracy remains a major challenge for rights holders and the authorities.
