Huge budget cuts for electric cars

No more ecological bonus for utility cars. According to our colleagues from Echos's budgetary context is pushing the government to cut aid everywhere in its budget. The new victim of the serial killers of public spending? The ecological bonus for electric cars, particularly professional automobiles. For private vehicles, the purchase bonus is maintained (yes), but, as you can imagine, there is a “but”, with a much smaller amount, and more indexed to income.

Until now, the bonus was 4,000 euros for the purchase of an electric car, and even 7,000 euros for the least fortunate 50% of households (reference tax income per share is less than or equal to 15,400 euros, depending on Les Echos). Now the maximum bonus would be 4,000 euros for these households, “and, from the sixth to the eighth income decile, the bonus will be reduced to 3,000 euros, then will drop to 2,000 euros for buyers in the two highest deciles,” explains the economic daily.

Only a few days left

And really, really hurry if you want this bonus, because its change should be effective within a few days, again for budgetary reasons. The aid budget dedicated to greening new car sales must increase from 1.5 billion euros this year to around 700 million in 2025.

This means that the conversion bonus should also disappear. The renewal of social leasing (electric cars at 100 euros per month for low-income households) has managed to survive (well done!), but with reduced terms.
