Job in Luxembourg: Security agent, Samir decided to become a caregiver

Educator, nurse, laboratory technician, caregiver… many profiles were sought this Monday by the 28 companies present during Moovijob Week at the European Convention Center Luxembourg (ECCL). The first day of this job fair, which lasts until Friday, was dedicated to health, care and social work and attracted many candidates, like Samir.

“I was a security guard and before that, a hairdresser. I took care of my sick grandfather and I wanted to continue with other people by becoming a caregiver,” explains the man who lives in Hussigny-Godbrange () and who would very much like to work at home. Thanks to this fair, Miriam, who is finishing her psychology studies, hopes to find her first job. “I like to create connections with people and help them get better,” confides the student from Trier (Germany).

With her bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology, Carine is looking for “an internship or a job while waiting to start a master’s degree in September. I would like to work with children,” says the 21-year-old resident. An engineer in continuous improvement, Guisi from (France) would like a position in health, “to improve processes in hospitals, for example”.

This show is a boon for companies like Servior. “For the nursing assistant profession, we have difficulty finding the right staff. We have 63 open positions in care and catering,” explains Caroline Hoffmann, recruitment manager.

BioneXt Lab is looking for nurses, midwives and laboratory technicians. “We met a lot of candidates who I will interview again during the week,” adds Coralie Steiner, human resources manager.

Moovijob Week continues until Friday at ECCL. This Tuesday, commerce, hotels and restaurants and services will be in the spotlight. On Wednesday, it will be the turn of industry, construction, transport and research and development. Thursday will be devoted to IT and Friday to banking, insurance and financial services.

A sector lacking labor

“The sector has had staffing needs for a while now, but it became even more complicated after Covid,” explains Louis Van Wambeke straight away. The Account Manager at Moovijob.com notices this in particular by the number of companies which form the Health sector during the big recruitment day in March, Moovijob Day. From three companies a few years ago, there were around twenty during the last edition. These thematic days of Moovijob Week were “very well received,” he confides. Companies have a real need and this show, by virtue of being specialized, allows them to be more on the offensive.”
