Finance in Luxembourg: In this position, you can earn almost 21,000 euros per month

250,000 euros gross per year on average. Or 20,833 euros gross per month on average. This is what a very experienced finance director (“75th percentile”, see box) earns in the field of alternative funds, according to the “Luxembourg 2025 Salary Guide” published this Tuesday by the recruitment firm Robert Half.

This is the highest salary listed in the finance industry. Second, we find the operational manager who is very experienced in alternative funds, whose remuneration amounts on average to 200,000 euros gross per year (i.e. 16,666 euros gross per month on average). To complete the podium, alternative funds still stand out, since the average gross annual salary of the very experienced “Finance manager” amounts to 135,000 euros (i.e. 11,250 euros gross per month on average). We also find at this salary level the finance director in the areas of commerce and industry.

“Luxembourg continues to profile itself as a hub for sustainable financing, with a strong increase in ESG funds (editor’s note: a fund is qualified as ESG when it integrates ethical criteria – ESG for environmental, social and governance – into its investments), analyzes Robert Half. This growth, supported by the SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation), is reflected in an increase in demand for ESG specialists.

Functions related to ESG compliance, sustainability reporting and data analysis are “on the rise” in the financial sector, adds the recruitment firm. Given their “level of specialization”, these functions benefit from “very competitive” salaries.

What do percentile salary scales mean?

Robert Half classifies salary levels into three categories:

• At the 25th percentile: New employee in the role, with little or no experience; requires more than basic instruction or supervision to complete daily tasks.

• At the 50th percentile: Has the experience necessary to consistently perform essential responsibilities without direct supervision; comfortable with the processes and topics associated with the role.

• At the 75th percentile: Value to the organization goes beyond the ability to perform normal tasks; possesses rare qualifications that enable unique contributions; ready for advancement.
