Ram 1500 REV delayed by a few months | Automotive news

  • – The launch of the Ram 1500 REV will be delayed by a few months.

The electric transition is taking longer than expected at Stellantis, especially for the vehicles expected on North American soil. The last hurdle concerns the Ram 1500 REV pickup truck, which was supposed to be presented before the end of this year.

Earlier this week, company honcho Carlos Tavares confirmed that the model would launch in the first six months of 2025, just like the range-extender Ramcharger version.

The manager explained that the acceleration of production and the launch of the manufacturer’s other electric products, notably the Dodge Charger Daytona, explained this delay. The company would pay greater attention to quality and validation processes, which would justify the extension of the deadline.

It’s always surprising to hear a manufacturer (this came from Ford too) mention that it will pay more attention to quality, when that should, from the start, be priority number one.

“We are simply faced with a very heavy workload. We want to be very careful in how we validate products. So we’re taking our time and making sure we handle the peak. As you know, we are currently launching the Dodge Charger Daytona, which is of course a very important product for us. » -Carlos Tavares

The Jeep Wagoneer S is expected after Dodge’s sedan.

As for the Ram 1500 REV, it will benefit from a different structure, the STLA Frame, which was presented at the beginning of the week.

The latter will be able to accommodate other types of engines, just like the STLA Large structure which will accommodate the Charger Daytona.

What we don’t know is the order in which the different solutions will be presented to us. We know that the company will bring forward the launch of gasoline versions of the Charger, to meet customer demand.

Perhaps we’ll have more information at the Detroit Auto Show, which returns in January for 2025.
