Paid every year to millions of low-income households, the rules for obtaining the energy check will change in 2025. Here's how to navigate it.
Who says budget 2025, says new things for the energy check. This system set up to finance energy costs is paid each year to several million households.
Born in 2018, it was first automatically sent to the lowest-income families, on the basis of their income and their housing tax, the latter having been abolished on main residences since January 1, 2023.
Thus, the biggest evolution of this device to note is none other than the end of automatic sending. From now on, French people will have to apply online. For former beneficiaries, they will still receive their energy check.
Expanded eligibility
After the first wave of energy checks sent in April, around a million French people did not receive the aid even though they were eligible.
In this wake, the government extended its campaign until December 31. People can go to the 2024 energy check counter to claim it until this date.
In 2025, the authorities will refer to the home's electricity delivery point number and the household's reference tax income to grant this assistance. On the amount side, the amount given to households will remain unchanged. It will be between 48 and 277 euros.
