The Helion One app wins the Masters and achieves the hat trick

For the twelfth time, the Best of Swiss Apps showed who sets the tone on the Swiss app scene. Industry players gathered on November 19 at the Kongresshaus in Zurich to celebrate the best app projects of the year. The 2024 edition recorded record participation: 241 projects were submitted to the juries and guests present in the room.
The ceremony was also the occasion for the first Best of Swiss Software award, rewarding software and systems integration projects in four categories. In a two-step process, the University of Bern and the specialist juries had previously examined all submissions from the perspective of quality and innovation and selected 25 projects.

Four trophies for business software

In the Data & AI Solutions category, the “InsightLoop” project won. Coresystems’ data analysis software, which combines large language models with RAG technology, impressed the jury with efficiency gains of up to 20% for manufacturing companies.

The “Apriko” platform from the Zurich software manufacturer of the same name won in the Business Solutions category. The jury judged that the platform sets milestones in the digitalization of personnel leasing and that it shines with its user-friendliness and wide range of functions.

With the “Service Portal 2.0” project, health insurer Sanitas has transferred a company-critical central application, which also manages sensitive customer data, to the cloud. Implemented by Valtech for Sanitas, the project won the award for best cloud native solution.

In the area of ​​Core Business Integration, the trophy was awarded to Bank Baloise and its implementation partner TI&M for the “new e-banking and mobile banking” project. The jury judged that with the highest security standards and innovative functions like Push-TAN and QR invoices, the platform offered a user-centric solution for the future.

A triple medal-winning Master

As for the Best of Swiss Apps, the big winner of the evening is the app Helion ONEwhich won the title of Master ahead of the apps Barryvox and Bitumen VR. The energy management application for solar installations was developed by Dept and Solar Manager on behalf of Helion Energy. In addition to the Master title, the project also won three gold medals, in the categories Customer Experience, Design et Functionality.

In terms of customer experience, the app convinced the jury with its ability to interest users in a complex subject thanks to intelligent micro-animations. The jurors also appreciated the coherent design of the application and its infographics. In terms of functionality, the jury members were impressed by the fact that the app managed to appeal to both end users and professionals.

The other winners…

The training app “Bitumen VR” facilitates and makes the training of apprentice plumbers safer thanks to virtual reality. She won gold in the category Extended Reality.

L’appli Network of the ETH spin-off of the same name, is intended for the protection of people working alone, including various functions intended to save lives. She won gold in the categories Innovation et Business Impactknowing that it was originally designed as a protection system for mountaineers.

L’appli CFF Inclusive is designed explicitly for people with disabilities, with features such as door handle recognition and haptic feedback. She won gold in the category Accessibility.

L’appli “myLab» serves for networking and continuing professional development of medical assistants. Implemented as a Progressive Web App, it gives the impression of being a native app. She won gold in the category Web Apps.

L’appli «Level Sports» of the Swiss Unihockey association aims to anchor club offerings more strongly in the regions, in particular by inviting users to meet and challenge each other to duels in games. She won gold in the category User Engagement.

L’appli «myCSS»with its refreshing layout, micro-animations and customization possibilities, wins gold in the category User Experience.
