Oxygen plan: Belfius returns to the dance but excludes Charleroi, Liège… and Mons

ING had announced the exclusion of seven cities from financing the Oxygen plan. Belfius takes over but refuses to finance the three most indebted cities.

AWhen in September, ING excluded seven cities from its Oxygène financing plan, intended to help Walloon municipalities in difficulty, the Walloon government persuaded Belfius to return to the game. The bank agreed to take charge of four of the seven cities (Ath, Namur, La Louvière and Verviers), however refusing to finance three: Liège, Charleroi and… Mons. And this is where the surprise lies since Liège and Charleroi had already been excluded from the last financing plan, forcing the Minister of Local Authorities under the previous legislature, Christophe Collignon to find a financing solution.
