Corsican sheep cheese recalled for suspicion of listeria

The alert was given on the X account (formerly Twitter) of the Haute-Corse prefecture. The tCorsican sheep men “Pierucci” in 200 gram portion has been the subject of a product recall since November 18.

According to state services, this cheese could carry the bacteria Listeria monocytogenesthe causative agent of listeriosis, a bacterial disease that affects many animal species and humans, with an incubation period of up to eight weeks.

The prefecture indicates that this is a voluntary recall formulated by this artisanal cheese company in order to protect consumers. This product, marketed since September 11, 2024, is distributed in Corsica and throughout in several brands.

It is recommended that people who have purchased it not consume it. Those who have consumed it are invited to consult their doctor in order to report this consumption to them.

Since the start of 2024, three Corsican cheeses have already been recalled for listeria risk.
