Soon, several Canadian land border crossings will no longer be open 24 hours in Quebec

Travelers who plan to enter Canada by land could bump their noses at a closed door as soon as January 6, 2025.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced Monday that it intends to modify the hours of service at 35 land points of entry.

Thus, ten Quebec border crossings will see their hours reduced. Of these, eight entry points that are currently open 24 hours will close in the evening.

“Today’s announcement, in collaboration with the United States, will strengthen the overall security of both countries,” the CBSA said in a press release.

The United States is also changing its hours of operation at certain checkpoints, according to the government agency.

“This alignment will also allow both countries to send inadmissible travelers and goods back to the other country, which is more difficult when one side of the border is closed while the other remains open,” it said. read in the CBSA press release.
