Record electricity export, Orano invests in a new factory, Axens wants to open a site in the North… The seven good news of the week

breaks its net electricity export record

France exported more than 78 terawatt hours (TWh) of electricity in net to its European neighbors. It thus exceeds its previous record, of 77 TWh, set in 2002. France's net electricity export balance should thus reach between 80 and 85 TWh by the end of the year, according to RTE, see 90 TWh, according to EDF. The offer is supported by the full commissioning of the offshore wind farms of Fécamp (operated by EDF) and Saint-Brieuc (Iberdrola). The nuclear fleet is again at 47 GW of availability, or more than 9 GW compared to 2023.

Orano invests 250 million euros to create a factory in Haute-

The nuclear materials specialist Orano is investing 250 million euros on its Bessines-sur-Gartempe (Haute-Vienne) site. With commissioning scheduled for 2027, the 7,000 square meter installation is used to produce vials of thorium 228, a precursor isotope of lead 212. The latter makes it possible to irradiate cancer cells directly into the body with a less toxic than radiotherapy. In total, 70 direct jobs would be created. The work has already started.

One more step for Axens in its factory project in the North

The energy specialist Axens announces its entry into exclusive negotiations for the acquisition of land at the port of Saint-Saulve, near (North). This acquisition would allow the French company to move forward with its project to build a factory dedicated to active cathode materials for batteries in France. The Ifpen subsidiary had announced its intention to build a 500 million euro production unit in the North with the Chinese Changyuan Lico (now MinMetals New Energy Materials).

-based ACI acquires Fralsen from American watch manufacturer Timex

The Lyon group ACI gets its hands on Fralsen, the French subsidiary of the American watch manufacturer Timex. Following this sale, the factory located in Besançon () could benefit from an investment of 2 million euros over two years and around ten recruitments. ACI thus hopes to develop new markets in watchmaking, while the factory until now manufactured exclusively for its American owner. It also intends to open it up to new activities, particularly in aeronautics and hydrogen.

Soprema invests 30 million euros to open a factory in

Insulation expert Soprema is investing 30 million euros in the construction of a new factory in Beaune (Côte-d'Or). The 14,000 square meter factory is due to begin operations in the last quarter of 2025. The facility's single production line is expected to produce 25,000 tonnes per year of glassine-based cellulose wadding – enough to insulate between 130 and 150 houses. per day. Around thirty direct jobs should be created.

Prysmian plans to invest 39 million euros in its Montereau-Fault-Yonne factory

The Italian cable manufacturer Prysmian plans to invest 39 million euros in its factory in Montereau-Fault-Yonne (Seine-et-). The project aims to commission a new production line for high and very high voltage cables by 2026. More than 60 people should be recruited. This plan follows RTE's announcement of a record order for 5,000 kilometers of electrical cables from five European suppliers, including Prysmian.

Adragos Pharma acquires a new ampoule filling line in Drôme

The German Adragos Pharma has inaugurated a fourth ampoule filling line in Livron (Drôme). In total, the project swallowed up 13 million euros of investment for an increase in the production capacity of the Drôme site by 40% – to reach an annual rate of 170 million units. Around forty jobs must be created. The manufacturer is thus launching the production of ampoules with a capacity of 1 to 10 milliliters, an offer from which it was until now absent.
