To mark 1000 days of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine, nearly fifty Russians from abroad demonstrated on Sunday in Geneva on the Place des Nations against the regime of President Putin. They demanded an immediate end to the conflict.
“Say no to war”, “Manuscripts do not burn”, Stop Putin” could we read on the banners brandished by the demonstrators. Around fifty opponents of the regime of the master of the Kremlin had already taken to the streets on Saturday in Zurich.
Speech in Russian and dance performance accompanied the event. Among the demands of the fifty participants, according to a count by Keystone-ATS, the resignation of Putin and his trial for war crimes, the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, the payment of reparations to Ukraine and the release of political prisoners in Russia.
This event was organized by “Russia of the Future – Switzerland”, a community of Russians and Russian-speaking residents of Switzerland. It echoed the big march organized on Sunday in Berlin with Russian opponents in exile, Yulia Navalnaïa, Ilia Yashin and Vladimir Kara-Mourza. These figures hope to give new impetus to the Russian opposition in exile, currently divided.
