And then, there is the damage caused in the rental.
This case reported by Le Maine libre combines the two. This is the story of a couple in their thirties who lived in accommodation for more than a year in the town of Sillé-le-Guillaume, in the Le Mans region. The owner recovered his property in a sad state after departure without the slightest notice from the tenants. Damaged electrical panel, torn linoleum and electrical outlets, broken mixer tap and hob, damaged door, and a poor general condition according to the description reported by the local daily.
The fault of the 4 dogs…
In their defense, the couple argued that this damage was caused by their four dogs: three American staff and a German shepherd… They calmly explained to the judge that their animals urinated on the electrical outlets which caused malfunctions. from the table… And they would therefore have torn off electrical equipment for the simple sake of safety! As for the damage to the cooking plates of a mixer tap or even the electrical panel, the story does not tell how the dogs would have accessed them.
The prosecutor of the Caen court appeared “scandalized” by the behavior of this couple supposed to ensure a “peaceful enjoyment” places, even if the sentences remain fairly measured in view of the damage: 100 day fines of 3 euros for the man (a sum that she will have to pay every day. The unpaid days are converted into days of prison) and four month suspended prison sentence for his partner.
