Apple prepares its version of the FTX scandal

In full boom of cryptocurrencies, Apple and the A24 studio have just unveiled a collaboration to produce a film on Sam Bankman-Fried and the scandal surrounding FTX, which occupied, before its liquidation, third place in the cryptocurrency market in the world .

An inspiring story

The screenplay was signed by Lena Dunham (Girls, Camping et Generation) is based on the bestselling book Going Infinite : The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon by Michael Lewis. It explores the rise of Bankman-Fried and the discovery of missing funds at FTX, followed by accusations of fraud and how the success story ended tragically. Note that the screenwriter’s work has already been rewarded, with several Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe.

This film is not the only adaptation currently taking place about the events surrounding FTX. Indeed, Amazon has ordered a limited series in 2022and another streaming service is also reportedly developing a show on this topic. Apple had acquired exclusive streaming rights to Lewis’ book in 2022allowing him to get an exclusive on this story for his own streaming service.

Other collaborations between Apple and A24

As of now, the film is in its early stages and few details have been revealed regarding casting or production. This project is one of several collaborations between Apple and A24, who previously worked together on On the Rocks et The Tragedy of Macbeth for Apple +.

As for future productions, we are waiting High and Low (directed by Spike Lee), scheduled for release in 2025: it is an adaptation of the novel Ransom on a minor theme by Ed McBain, already brought to the screen by Akira Kurosawa in Between heaven and hell released in 1963. Or even The Wivesa murder mystery story inspired by The Real Housewiveswith Jennifer Lawrence
