Emmanuel Macron has lost the confidence of the French on the employment front

SURVEY – While announcements of social plans and closures of industrial sites are increasing, the latest wave of the Odoxa-Backbone Consulting study for Le Figaro reveals that 84% of the country is worried about the situation.

Red alert on the latest macronist indicators still green. Since his election in 2017, Emmanuel Macron seemed to have succeeded in his challenge of ending mass unemployment, to the point of being close to the dream of a return to full employment. However, a seven-year period later, a large half of French people (55%) nevertheless judge the president's record negatively, as revealed by the latest wave of the Odoxa-Backbone Consulting survey for Le Figaro. In detail, it is naturally the Mélenchonist sympathizers (60%) and the Lepénists (75%) who are the most critical while, conversely, the macronists of Renaissance (19%) and the people of the right (41% ) remain rather lenient.

The loss of confidence observed in the study is reflected in particular by an explosion of concern among the French on the employment front. Both for the country, where this feeling has increased by +18 points in five years, to reach 84%. But also for themselves, where nearly 6 respondents…
