The Molotov streaming platform suffered a “intrusion” which allowed “unauthorized third parties” to access the email addresses of 10.8 million people, the company announced on Wednesday, November 13. Molotov claimed to have sent a message to this effect to his clients.
The data leak, which occurred in October, concerns email addresses, but also the names, first names and dates of birth of users who had provided this information, of which Motolov did not specify the number. No banking details or passwords are affected, the company stressed.
“A complaint was immediately filed”underlined Molotov, who specifies having notified the CNIL (data protection police) of this leak, in accordance with its legal obligation. The platform advises its clients “to be vigilant in the face of possible suspicious or unsolicited emails”. Resources are available online on the website cybermalveillance.gouv.fr.
