François Hommeril, president of the executives union, CFE-CGC, will be fired “in the coming weeks”he told AFP on Tuesday, November 12, after announcing it to Monde. His company, Niche Fused Alumina, placed in receivership, was taken over by the industrialist Alteo, which retains 119 employees, but is letting go of 51 employees, including him.
Engineer and union representative within the company, François Hommeril, 63, says he is “exempt from activity” professional in its factory in La Bâthie (Savoie) since October 25. Due to his union functions, his dismissal must still be approved by a vote of the elected representatives of the company's CSE and by the labor inspector. “In 26 years, I never wanted to leave the factory, I wanted to stay, I live right opposite”he emphasizes, still touched by “brutality” of the announcement, by “a message and a phone call”.
During the recovery procedure, the union leader does not hide “have requested his address book” and be “invested at the highest level of the State” pour “that there is a buyer who arrives”. The executive, who still has a year and a half to work to pay off his retirement, remains at the helm of the CFE-CGC until June 2026. Last week, after the announcements of job cuts at Auchan and Michelin, the government has said it expects numerous social plans in the coming months in France. In total, 150,000 people could be affected, according to the CGT.
