Possible indefinite strike for bus drivers from Monday

An indefinite general strike for bus drivers is likely to be called as early as Monday morning, which could cause many headaches for parents.

This situation concerns three transport companies in the Lanaudière region, namely Transcollines, Brissette & Frères and the Laurin division of Gaudreault buses.

The union representing the workers says it is dissatisfied with the offers put on the table despite talks with the carrier.

The main breaking point would be employee salaries, according to the Confederation of National Trade Unions (CSN).

“$20 to $25,000 per year to do this job is unacceptable,” says the vice-president of public service employees affiliated with the CSN, Josée Dubé, on Sunday on LCN.

The trade unionist apologizes in advance for the possible inconvenience caused, but believes that this cause is supported by households.

“Parents are aware and they know the reason why they [les chauffeurs] they fight and they [les parents] are behind us,” says Ms. Dubé.
