Limit the amount of health insurance premiums to 10% of the income of Jura households. This is the proposal defended by the Jura Socialist Party which considers it urgent to provide a social corrective to a system which weighs on the finances of the population.
The motion tabled during the last session of Parliament asks the Jura Government to adapt the legislation in force so that health insurance premiums are capped at 10% of the determining income. The canton would therefore be required to devote a larger part of its budget to reducing premiums.
“Once again, policyholders in our canton are bearing the brunt of a significant increase in premiums which amounts to an average of 8.9%,” writes MP Jelica Aubry-Janketic in the socialist group’s motion. “The status quo is no longer tenable,” adds the MP.

Residents in “anxiety”
For the elected official, this situation plunges the Jura residents into anguish every year. She believes that changing health insurance is not a satisfactory response and calls on the State to act rather than seeing, year after year, the inexorable increase in premiums.
For the signatories of the motion, it is high time to put in place concrete measures even if it means having to reorient the financial priorities of the canton. They consider that this subject must become an absolute political priority despite the delicate financial situation that the Jura state is going through.
