By 2038, he will become the new admiral of the French Navy. THE new generation aircraft carrier (PANG) will replace the Charles de Gaullewhich has traveled the seas and oceans of the world since 2001.

An order for Naval Group and Chantiers de l’Atlantique

The order was officially placed in April 2024 by the Directorate General of Armaments.

She “notified this order of 600 million euros to the companies Naval Group et Atlantic Shipyards (via their joint company MO-Porte-Avions) as well as TechnicAtome”.

As our colleagues at the Manche Pressthe Cherbourg and Nantes-Indret sites of Naval Group will be mobilized for “the industrialization and production of the main components of nuclear boiler rooms”.

The PANG will be built in Saint-Nazaire. It should be ordered in 2025, according to the Finance Bill (PLF) defined by the government, and its construction should therefore begin at the end of next year. With a length of 305 meters, it will be able to catapult between 25 to 30 on-board Rafale aircraft.
