Outside, the uneven weather is typical of an autumn week when you have to look more for real interesting offers in the flyers. Luckily, we’ve done the work for you. Above all: the clementines from Morocco have already arrived at our merchants!

On the flyer battle front, Maxi stands out with a small lead this week in the quantity of big discounts. But if we take into account the rarer offers, Metro also stands out.
I’m starting with fruit, actually. At this time of year, I always wait for the clementines from Morocco which announce that the holidays are coming. It’s one of my favorite moments: they bring sunshine into the gray November!
A bit like oranges, having clementines under $1/lb is rare. We didn’t find them very often at this price last year either: the season is off to a strong start! You can also buy them in 5 lb packages for $6 at Maxi: it’s a little more expensive, but still very interesting.
I’m switching to Peruvian blueberries in a 170g tray, available for $1.50 at Maxi (member price). In small fruits, there are always price cycles. Almost two years ago, we frequently benefited from good offers for blueberries. Then, last year, we had more deals with blackberries. Recently, it’s been mostly raspberries. Today, we are seeing a return of offers for blueberries. I highlight the member price at IGA, which is $1.66 for this product as well.
Maxi, for its part, sells Italian black plums at $2/lb. Usually, we are offered them in fixed weight packaging with, two or three times in recent months, similar cost prices. But for plums offered in bulk, it is rarer. We haven’t seen a better offer since June.
Kiwis are priced at $3.99 for a 2 lb basket at Metro. In recent months, we have often found kiwis on sale in circulars, but sold individually. I consider this to be the best deal this week since February, regardless of format.
The grocery store
On the grocery side, Super C sells St-Hubert soup for $1.47 per 540 ml can. This offer matches the best price of the year for this product (which goes back to April). At the beginning of October, we were almost there with an offer of 2 boxes for $5. Maxi will offer this product for $1.50 starting Friday: the differences are sometimes a few cents for canned soups.
Let’s move on to cereals. Those from General Mills are priced at $2.87 at Super C and Metro. But their circulars do not specify the format. In the case of Cheerios, if you see it in 10 oz size or larger, it’s truly an incredible bargain. But this offer may concern a special, smaller format. You will therefore need to be vigilant in store.
For Michelina’s frozen meals, offered for $1 at Maxi, it’s almost the lowest price of the year (it was 99¢ in February: we’ve seen this product offered for only $1 one other time since). This is a great bargain, once common, but which is becoming much rarer with inflation. Please note: I checked our history and I have not noticed any reduction in these dishes since Glouton has been compiling data, for at least five years.
I end this column with Selection cold meats, in 400g packages at Metro, at $6.99 (with the digital coupon). For pre-packaged cold meats, we have a cost price of $1.75 per 100 g, which is really advantageous. However, don’t forget to activate the digital coupon in the Metro app, because the cash register won’t remind you! Still: compared to the regular price of $11, it’s a great deal. Something to prepare your lunches with a smile!
