Leborgne unveils a new (re)log splitter, more practical and more secure

In its latest survey, ADEME estimates that there are 7.5 million French households who, like me, have chosen wood for heating. A choice which obviously imposes the “wood chore” on me, since my logs are delivered in one meter logs, and my stove accommodates 25 cm logs! The cutting and splitting steps are therefore obligatory for me, and it is not always a pleasure! So, when I received the press release from the Leborgne* brand, one of the most major French brands of gardening toolsI became interested in one of their innovations: the reverse log splitter. I think it could make my task of splitting wood easier, and that it could be very useful to you. I present it to you immediately.

A reverse cutting system

Tools for splitting logs are not innovations, there are a plethora of them, more or less effective. In the case of the Leborgne inverted log splitter, the major innovation is based on its inverted cutting system. Unlike traditional methods where the blade hits the log, here it is the log itself which hits the blade. This mechanism reduces the risk of accidents and avoids cutting yourself. Particularly recommended for small wood stoves, like mine, it can also be used to make kindling safely.

Reduced physical efforts

Using the inverted log splitter is simple: simply place the previously notched log on the blade and hit it with a hammer to split it easily. The tool is equipped with a resistant steel protection barwhich prevents any accidental contact with the blade and thus protects the user’s hands. The splitter can be used on the ground or fixed on a block using stabilizing legs. A convex sharpening of the blade ensures optimal cutting quality and a repositionable edge guard allows the tool to be stored safely once the job is finished. The inverted log splitter thus limits physical effort and guarantees greater safety than a conventional log splitter.

The technical characteristics of the slitter

The inverted log splitter is delivered flat, synonymous witheasy storage when not in use. In terms of weight, it weighs only 4 kilos, a minimal weight which allows it to be easily moved near the wood pile, or the storage area. When assembled, the tool measures 26 × 26 × 31.5 cm, with an inner diameter of 17 cm for splitting small logs. I honestly think that I will soon give in to the temptation to buy it, especially to avoid having to buy kindling. In fact, making kindling with a conventional splitter or a chainsaw is so dangerous that I prefer to buy it already cut.

This way I will be able to review my copy and save money! The reverse log splitter is one of the new products from the Leborgne brand for 2024. You can also find the company’s other innovations on leborgne.fr or on sale on Amazon, Castorama or Cdiscount. And you ? Are you, like me, convinced that this tool can make your wood chore easier?
