The nearly 2,000 engineers working within the Quebec government will be on an indefinite general strike starting November 14 in reaction to “recent offers” from the Treasury Board Secretariat which proved insufficient for professionals.
This is what the Professional Association of Government Engineers of Quebec (APIGQ) announced to its members on Monday.
“The APIGQ negotiating committee sent a notice of an indefinite general strike today, November 4,” the union said. You will therefore be on an indefinite general strike from 5:00 p.m. on November 14, 2024. This strike notice is a direct response to recent offers from the SCT.”
“The Association concluded the negotiation of essential services today. We will contact the engineers identified in essential services as soon as possible,” we added.
The APIGQ had also launched another indefinite general strike on April 22, 2022. The pressure tactics had caused delays in several road construction sites in Quebec.
The engineers finally accepted the agreement in principle proposed by the government in August of the same year.
