Ram is recalling 33,777 2025 model year 1500 trucks due to a potential issue with the front wheel bearing coding rings. These rings, which may have been damaged during handling, could cause the electronic stability control (ESC) system to deactivate, increasing the risk of an accident.
A problem detected in a small percentage of trucks
Although massive, this recall should only concern a small percentage of vehicles in circulation. According to Ram’s filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), only about 1 percent of the 33,777 recalled vehicles are affected. Affected models were produced between October 13, 2023 and August 11, 2024.

The consequences of faulty stability control
A malfunction of the coding ring can affect the wheel speed sensor signal and cause the electronic stability control (ESC) system to become disabled. Without this essential safety system, the truck becomes more susceptible to losing control, especially in difficult driving conditions.
To remedy the situation, Ram offers a complete inspection of the front wheel bearing hub assembly and, if necessary, replacement of the defective part. The automaker is also agreeing to reimburse costs incurred by owners who have already repaired this problem before the recall was announced.
Ram will notify dealers in the coming weeks, and owners of affected vehicles will receive notification starting December 19, 2024
