Michelin: announcements from this Tuesday for French sites in difficulty?

Michelin management has until November 9 to respond to the right of alert triggered for the French sites of , and Joué-lès-. On the union side, we expect announcements from this Tuesday, November 5.

The difficulties experienced by the Michelin sites of Cholet, Vannes and Joué-lès-Tours, described as “structural” by management, make the internal unions fear the worst, who in April triggered a right of alert for the three sites and appointed an independent expert in June to study the situation.

The fears of staff representatives – who had expressed this to management during the economic and central committee of October 9, asking the group's president, Florent Menegaux, to clarify the situation – and those of the employees themselves have been revived Sunday by the general secretary of the PCF. Fabien Roussel spoke on 3 of announcements of closures “in the coming days” for Cholet and Vannes, without mentioning Joué-lès-Tours.

Management has until Saturday to respond to the right of alert

The management of the tire giant indicated on Monday that it has until November 9 to respond to the right of alert. In other words to communicate its decisions concerning these sites. She recalls that she has been “mobilized for months on the situation of the sites” in question and that she has “repeatedly expressed her understanding regarding the concerns of employees”. Michelin intends to “reserve for its employees and the organizations that represent them the first to know about any developments affecting them”.

On the union side, we expect announcements this Tuesday.

The Cholet site (Maine-et-) employs 960 people (up to 1,100 including temporary workers and subcontractors), that of Vannes (Morbihan) has around 300 and that of Joué-lès-Tours (Indre- et-Loire) 160.
