According to Arthur Seuillerot, representative of Biosud, the contamination comes from the waters of the Rhôneused to irrigate rice fields. Rice, which grows “with its feet in the water” from May to September, acts as a filter and naturally absorbs elements from its environment, including arsenic.
Although the analyzes showed a very low level of arsenic, those responsible for Biosud are committed to carrying out additional tests. They are also exploring ways to reduce this contamination.
This product recall is all the more surprising as it concerns a rice from the Camarguea region with low intensity of pesticide use. However, analyzes published on October 31 revealed traces of arsenic in rice from Organic semi-complete round IGP Camargue.
