Remember that flexible bollards were installed between rue des Saules and boulevard des Récollets towards the end of summer 2024. The City said it had received several citizen requests concerning the speed and flow of traffic at this location.
Since this development was temporary, the City planned to remove the bollards next week. However, this week, a few of them were removed… but not by municipal employees.
The matter was reported to the City, which promised to follow up with the Trois-Rivières Police Department.
“The City deplores this action and reminds that those responsible are exposed to criminal charges.”
— Guillaume Cholette-Janson, spokesperson for the City of Trois-Rivières
The measure received a mixed reception last summer. Several people saw it as an inconvenience, particularly for getting to neighboring businesses, while others said they were satisfied with its trial.
The rest of the temporary layout on rue de la Pinède should be removed next week. It remains to be seen whether he will be back next year or not.
“The City will evaluate the effectiveness of the measure based on observations carried out on the ground as well as on comments received from the population. An overall analysis will be presented to elected officials later to determine whether this development could become permanent,” indicates Mr. Cholette-Janson.
