here is the list of the 10 cars that are most likely to break down

No one likes to find themselves broken down on the side of the road, their engine smoking and their wallet trembling at the thought of the bill to come.

Unfortunately, not all cars are created equal when it comes to reliability. Some models, despite their popularity or attractive design, hide defects that can turn the daily commute into a mechanical nightmare.

AdBlue, the additive that depollutes and empties the wallet

Designed to make diesel engines more environmentally friendly, AdBlue is a liquid additive that reduces emissions of polluting particles. But what was supposed to be a green solution has turned into a nightmare for many drivers.

La Voix du has collected no less than 5,000 testimonies from owners faced with breakdowns linked to this system which impose 1,500 euros in repair costs.

The list of 10 cars with the most problems with the AdBlue system:

  1. Peugeot 3008
  2. Peugeot 308
  3. Citroën C3
  4. Peugeot 208
  5. Citroen C4 Picasso
  6. Opel Grandland
  7. Peugeot 2008
  8. Peugeot 5008
  9. Peugeot Partner

Stellantis’ French brands in full swing

The survey conducted by the UFC Que Choisir in 2022 and the poll by La Voix du Nord revealed that Stellantis group brands are particularly affected by this problem.

Citroën, Peugeot and Opel top the list of manufacturers cited by dissatisfied motorists. This over-representation can be partly explained by the popularity of these brands in , but the scale of the phenomenon remains worrying.

Among the most frequently mentioned models, Peugeot unfortunately stands out in the worst possible way. The 3008 and 308 are particularly affected by AdBlue system failures.

With the debacle surrounding the 1.2 PureTech engine, it really doesn’t feel good to have a car produced by the StellanFrench automotive giant at the moment.

  • Diesel vehicles equipped with the AdBlue system, in particular those of the Stellantis group (Peugeot, Citroën, Opel), are the most affected by recurring breakdowns
  • AdBlue-related repairs can cost more than a thousand euros, pushing some owners towards illegal solutions
  • Faced with the resurgence of the problem, it is possible to use an additive being an anti-crystallizing product
