Antonio Gambardella, director of Fongit: “There is no point in chasing unicorns”

Published on October 19, 2024 at 07:04. / Modified on October 19, 2024 at 09:53.

Founded in 1991 by Jean-Pierre Etter, Fongit (Geneva Foundation for Technological Innovation) is the main support for technological start-ups in Geneva. On October 14, the foundation financially supported by the canton announced a partnership with the Modus Foundation (created in 2023 by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation, which also supports the Aventinus Foundation, owner of the Temps). The objective of this public-private collaboration is to help start-ups active in the field of sustainable mobility.

This is the first initiative of this kind signed by Fongit in thirty years of existence. The Modus Foundation will finance the supported projects up to half of the amounts paid. A first partnership which should pave the way for the implementation of other models of aid to young start-ups, hopes Antonio Gambardella, who has headed Fongit since 2014.
