Armed attack in a Montreal park: 3 injured, including one serious

According to agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, who is spokesperson for the Montreal Police Service (SPVM), a call was made to 911 around 8:10 p.m. to report an armed attack that occurred at Bellerive Park , which runs along rue Notre-Dame, near rue Saint-Donat.

On site, emergency services discovered three victims.

A 47-year-old man and a 31-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries. On the other hand, the third victim, a 39-year-old man, had to be rushed to the hospital after suffering serious injuries to his upper body.

The 39-year-old man was initially in critical condition, but is now out of danger, medical authorities confirmed overnight.

According to initial information collected by the police from various witnesses, a conflict degenerated in the park between several people. During the argument, three men were allegedly attacked by another man who allegedly used a blunt object.

The suspect then left in a vehicle in a direction that remains unknown at this time. The SPVM reported no arrests in this case early Friday.

A security perimeter was erected around Bellerive Park and investigators were deployed on site to analyze the scene and meet witnesses to the event in order to understand the circumstances surrounding this attack. The canine squad was also called upon.
