The extent of the cut becomes clearer on the RTS. The public service media announced this Thursday the elimination of 46 full-time positions as part of its savings plan for 2025, i.e. 19 layoffs.
“As announced on September 12, the RTS is forced to save 10 million francs due to the reduction in the indexation of the fee to inflation and the continued decline in commercial revenues,” indicates the company in a communicated, while emphasizing the “lesser social impact” of the measures.
What will be the impact on programs? The media assures that the consequences will remain limited. But several programs will be hit hard by the cost-saving measures, such as Sport Derniere, Helvetica, Vivants, Nouvo and the 10:30 p.m. radio news. “Classical music recordings, as well as contributions to some partners, will also be affected, as will the presence of RTS during cultural and sporting events,” specifies the press release.
